Shelby GT-H Verts Going to Auction

In the second year of the Shelby/Hertz collaboration, five hundred convertible versions of the Shelby GT-H Mustang were built.

Those cars are starting to come out of service now and the first 25 examples are going to Kruse International's Monterey, CA, auction in one week's time.

Initial auction results for the coupe GT-H's were high, but then tailed off as demand for the used cars declined. Time will tell if this pattern repeats itself, or if buyers feel they have found a true classic in the making.

These convertibles are equipped with the 4.6-liter 3V V-8 engine, a custom Shelby Performance hood with pins, lower billet grille insert that was designed for all California Special Mustangs, Shelby GT’s and GT-H’s, body side scoops, 14-inch brake package, rear and front brake duct kits, driving light package, custom floor mats, sequential tail lamps, billet engine fluid caps and oil dip stick, and Sirius Satellite Radio.

Ford Racing Performance Group added their FR-1 Power Pack, Ford Racing’s 90mm Cold Air kit, Muffler Kit, X-pipe, a performance calibration and a cat-back performance exhaust. All cars have the black paint with gold stripe exterior treatment.

Early auctions for the original group of modern cars were fetching around $40K for lightly used coupes that were retired early.
